Recommendations from Concilium for legionaries throughout the world for Jubilee Year 2025.
1. All legionaries (active and auxiliaries) are recommended to take on the 33 Day Consecration to Jesus Through Mary proposed by St. Louis- Marie de Montfort during the Jubilee Year 2025. Auxiliaries and active members need to be informed. Concilium has just published a new production of the 33 Day Consecration to Jesus Through Mary. Some councils might wish to carry it out together with their legionaries over the 33-day preparation period.
2. All Councils are recommended to carry out some street contact each month for the Jubilee Year to focus on apostolic activity and personal contact and to teach the master/apprentice system of formation.
3. In Dublin, and throughout Ireland, a Jubilee task force will focus on recruitment for the Jubilee Year. Other Councils may wish to follow this recommendation to address the need for Recruitment during the Jubilee Year and address the need for more active members following the covid lockdowns across the world.
4. All are asked to take on the Jubilee Year recommendations.
“The more one plunges into God, the wider become the horizons, and the greater the possibilities.” (Legion of Mary Handbook p.235)

Some Handbook Reflections
TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY
(p.1,2 in Some Handbook Reflections)
It is desirable that the practice of the Legionary devotion to Mary should be rounded off and given the distinctive character which has been taught by St. Louis-Marie de Montfort under the titles of “The True Devotion” or the “Slavery of Mary”, and which is enshrined in his two books, “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin” and the “Secret of Mary.” (Legion Handbook, Chap. 6 .5)
“Furthermore, Marian spirituality, like its corresponding devotion, finds a very rich source in the historical experience of individuals and of the various Christian communities present among the different peoples and nations of the world. In this regard, I would like to recall, among the many witnesses and teachers of this spirituality, the figure of St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, who proposes consecration to Christ through the hands of Mary, as an effective means for Christians to live faithfully their baptismal commitments. I am pleased to note that in our time too new manifestations of this spirituality and devotion are not lacking.” (Pope John Paul 11: Redemptoris Mater, 48)”
“It is intriguing that the Legion should start immediately after what I might call a “Patrician discussion” on the subject of the True Devotion, as if the minds of the future members had to be fully acclimatised to Mary before they were fit for membership; before they could become the Legion of Mary”. (Frank Duff: Virgo Praedicanda, 21)
“The fact is that one cannot emphasise too much the value of the True Devotion as a supplement to the Handbook and the entire Legion system. St. LouisMarie’s words of fire uplift Our Lady from the level of pure doctrine and give her substance as a person, our Mother with intimate charge of our lives, utterly indispensable to us, our Queen, our leader, the very thought of whom inspires courage and stimulates one to undertake the impossible.” (Frank Duff: Victory through Mary, 39)
The following books on the True devotion to Mary are available from the Concilium:-
Treatise on the True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin. (St. Louis Marie de Montfort)
The Secret of Mary. (St. Louis Marie de Montfort)
The De Montfort Way. (Frank Duff)
True Devotion to Mary. (Rev. Michael Kennedy, C.C.)

As legionaries (active and auxiliaries) are recommended to take on the 33 Day Consecration to Jesus Through Mary proposed by St. Louis- Marie de Montfort the Jubilee Year 2025- and the suggestions that some councils could perhaps carry it out together with their legionaries over the 33-day preparation period- we remind all of the availability at the very low price of E1.50 per copy of this publication which is modelled on that of St. Louis Marie De Montfort.

Enthronement of The Sacred Heart in homes
“The Enthronement visitation forms the most fruitful of all introductions, striking the right note of simple piety from the very commencement, facilitating acquaintance and hence repeated visits, and rendering easy the development of the Legion apostolate.” Legion of Mary Handbook (p.234).
We look forward with much anticipation to hearing through councils reports in this Jubilee of The Sacred Heart of Jesus of all of the Enthronement of The Sacred Heart of Jesus happening worldwide.
How could any council, but promote with intensity this awesome work?
First Saturdays Devotion
December 10 2025 will be the one hundredth (100th) anniversary of the day on which Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Blessed Mother asked for the spread of the First Saturdays.
As legionaries, we are undoubtedly placed in a position where we ourselves can readily and instantly respond to this call (if we have not already done so), and mobilise others to do likewise. We thank God and our Blessed Mother for such a blessing. This also evokes a sense of duty to respond duly in the manner that Jesus and Our Lady wish of us and will for us to spread the First Saturdays.
We aim to do all that we can to help the introduction and maintenance of First Saturdays devotion in as many parishes as possible throughout the world. The invitation and the call remains and will continue to do so until the request of Jesus and Mary is fulfilled.
We are well aware that the Rosary is being recited daily in so many churches all around the world already- often by legionaries- and this is an enormous blessing. As legionaries, who work in pairs and as praesidia, Curiae etc. we are in ideally situated to help with the introduction, maintenance and spread the practice globally of First Saturdays devotion. While this immense gift brings with it great responsibility, the joy of knowing that The Legion of Mary can be instrumental in carrying out, internationally, this work that is so important to Our Blessed Mother and Our Lord that they both asked it to be carried out surely suffices to inflame our hearts and lead us in unity with steadfast resolve to set to work with more tenacity than ever to establish, maintain and spread First Saturdays devotion worldwide. To our great advantage, there is in fact very little to be added to what is already happening, but that little extra is the little that is very great in the difference it would make to Jesus and our Blessed Mother. is a new work for 2025 that Heaven seeks of our individual praesidia?
The following is what Jesus and our Lady asked for to fulfill their request for First Saturdays devotion, with each of the four elements to be carried out with the intention of making reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary:
1) Confession* (on the day ideally, within twenty days to gain a plenary indulgence, but within the month is acceptable to fulfill the requirements of the First Saturdays devotion)
2) Receiving Holy Communion in the state of grace
3) Keeping Our Lady company while praying five decades of the Rosary
4) Meditating for fifteen minutes on the mysteries of the Rosary while keeping our Lady company.
Again, to emphasise that it is of vital importance is that each of the four elements listed above is to be carried out with the intention of making reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
At the Apparition on June 13 1917, Our Lady told Lucia “Jesus wishes to make use of you to make me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart.” She also said “Are you suffering a great deal? Don’t lose heart. I will never forsake you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.” Those consoling words of Our Lady to Lucia strengthen us too in our efforts to establish and spread First Saturdays devotion.
The following also happened at that Apparition: “In front of the palm of Our Lady’s right hand was a heart encircled by thorns which pierced it.” The children explained they “understood that this was the Immaculate Heart of Mary outraged, by the sins of humanity, and seeking reparation.” We remember that Jesus and Mary both asked for First Saturdays devotion from us.
December 10 1925 saw the coming of Jesus and Mary to now Venerable Sr. Lucia at Pontevedra, Spain (where it seems very providential that in recent times a new praesdium was established). At that Apparition in Pontevedra, Jesus said to Lucia “Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother covered with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment, and there is no one to remove them with an act of reparation.”
We know that the practice outlined for First Saturdays devotion is part of Our Lady’s request for peace in the world. There is no need to say any more; reflection and prayer about this surely suffices.
There are undoubtedly vast numbers of legionaries to whom this very powerful work would appeal, and it is a very feasible means of expanding the range of works of a praesidium.
Please give the possibility of introducing this mighty work as a new work for your praesidium the prayer and consideration it deserves. Venerable Lucia of Fatima said “Whether there is war or peace, depends on the practice of this devotion.”
Jesus and Our Blessed Mother have asked for this devotion. We seek gifts to give to Jesus and Our Blessed Mother… this is a gift they seek of us, and have asked of us
